Nepal is a unique land, from the tropical zone in Terai to alpine zone , the magnificent highest mountain, diverse flora and fauna, colorful festivals, temples and stupas, the ancient cities have made Nepal a paradise on earth. From south to north Nepal is from 80 to 120 km wide and in very distance exists all the climate zones their natural characteristics. Located in between the Indian plains and Tibetan plateau, Nepal has landscape, which makes it one of the most unique in the world.

Nepal’s many ethnic groups are as varied as its land with their own languages and cultures. The Newars in Kathmandu Valley, whose culture and artistry have earned them an international reputation. The Sherpas of the Himalayas are known as tough mountain climbers. 

Brahmins and Chhetris are scattered over the hills and valleys and Tamangs are found in the districts around Kathmandu Valley. The Rai, Limbus, Magars and Gurungs of the mid hills have earned fame as Gurkha soldiers. Lowland ethnic groups such as the Maithili, Bhojpuri and Tharu enhance the colorful mosaic. The population of Nepal is about 20 millions.

Nepal contains a variety of climatic conditions ranging from the tropical heat of the Terai plains to the freezing cold of the high Himalayas. The mid-hills particularly the Kathmandu Valley, are pleasant with warm summers and cool winters. Temperatures range between a maximum of 37 and a minimum 8-degree Celsius in the plains, 28 and 2 degrees Celsius in Kathmandu Valley and between 16 & 6 degrees Celsius in the mountains. The rainy season lasts from June to August. 

Hinduism & Buddhism constitute two major religions of Nepal. A remarkable feature of Nepal is the religious homogeneity that exists, particularly, between the Hindu & Buddhist communities. In addition a small number of Muslims and Christians also exists.

The exquisite medieval Art & Architecture of Katmandu Valley reflect the artistic ingenuity and the religious tradition of the people. The Nepalese are traditionally warm and friendly and treat the guest with a respect.

Nepal Time is 5 hours 45 minutes ahead of GMT and 15 minutes ahead of Indian standard time.

Except in formal gathering informal clothes are acceptable mostly everywhere. Warm garments are required in October – March. An umbrella or a raincoat are must for the rainy season.
